STEMNova Strengthens Partnerships for STEM Education through the 2026 Allotey Maths Camp

The collaboration grew from a connection facilitated by Dr. Dorcas Attuabea Addo, Founder of STEMNova Foundation, who introduced Dr. Francis Torgbor, Director of the African Maths Initiative, to Dr. Sylvester Ali Frimpong, Head of the Department of Mathematics Education at UEW, to explore opportunities for collaboration around the mathematics camp. That introduction developed into a successful institutional collaboration, bringing together the African Maths Initiative and the Department of Mathematics Education, UEW, alongside other partners, to provide students with an engaging mathematics learning experience. The programme officially marked its opening with a ceremony on 7 September 2026 and concluded with a closing ceremony on 10 September 2026. The camp brought together national and international volunteers who supported participating students through activities designed to strengthen mathematical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, confidence, innovation, and STEM awareness. STEMNova also contributed directly to the programme by presenting Mr. Osmanu Abdul Wadud to serve as a volunteer during the camp. Partnerships That Create Opportunity For STEMNova, the significance of this collaboration extends beyond a single mathematics camp. It reflects the Foundation’s belief that Africa’s STEM ecosystem becomes stronger when educators, researchers, institutions, volunteers, and scientific organisations are connected around a shared purpose.

STEMNova exists not only to discover promising scientific talent, but also to help create the environments, relationships, and opportunities through which that talent can develop. Facilitating collaborations such as this is therefore closely connected to the Foundation’s mission of expanding access to quality STEM education, mentorship and opportunities while developing scientific leadership across Africa.

The partnership also demonstrates STEMNova’s commitment to its vision of becoming Africa’s trusted home for discovering, developing, and connecting scientific talent nurturing researchers, educators, innovators, and leaders who advance Africa and contribute to the world. From Connection to Impact The 2026 Allotey Maths Camp illustrates a principle at the heart of STEMNova: Meaningful impact often begins by connecting the right people, institutions, and opportunities. By helping initiate this connection and contributing to the volunteer network supporting the programme, STEMNova continues to translate its mission into practical action. As the Foundation strengthens its work in talent discovery, mentorship, teacher development, research, girls and women in STEM, and frontier science education, partnerships will remain central to its approach. For STEMNova, the goal is not simply to participate in STEM activities, but to build connections that outlive individual events and create lasting pathways for education, research, innovation, and scientific leadership across Africa. Discovering Talent. Building Leadership. Advancing Africa in STEM.
